Hello all,
It's been a looooooong time, and I'm sorry. I've been as busy as a one armed paper hanger, but that's an excuse. I've been around, but just browsing. I have some cool animatics from Avengers Season 1 that I'll post when I get a chance. I have them, but they have the timecodes on them, and they drive me crazy! So I gotta export my own animatics, but I only have one arm! And I'm a paper hanger! Anyway, we have made a lot of headway lately on the class. Last week, Oats announced the class on Facebook, and on the website. We're hoping that the first session will get underway in January or early February, and then go from there. The first couple of classes will be small, about 25-30 students, and then expand out from there. Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted on things as they pop up!
I'm so excited, this class is going to ROCK! I'm also doing some really cool things at work. I'll announce when the House of "M" announces:]

Don't Go to art school!
I've been seeing this around the DA journals all day, and it sounds like my kind of journal! It's written by an extremely talented environment artist named Noah Bradley. So I finally read it, and yeah, Noah is right on top of it. Check it out, and lets start the conversation about art and education in this country:
Don't go to art school
The traditional approach is failing us. It's time for a change.
I'VE HAD IT.
I will no longer encourage aspiring artists to attend art school. I just won't do it. Unless you're given a full ride scholarship (or have parents with money to burn), attending art school is a waste of your money.

'Comic Relief: The Art of Chris Copeland.'
Hey, my brother has worked his ass off and produced a mighty awesome sketch book: "Comic relief: The Art of Chris Copeland." Please drop by his Kickstarter and support him. The coolest thing to me about the book is that it has a preview of his new Graphic Novel with his character called "HIM", and I am telling you, those pages are sick!!! I'm pretty sure most of you guys are familiar with my brother, and his amazing talent. But if you haven't I encourage you to swing by:]

Dan Duncan's New Book!
My boy Dan Duncan ~dan-duncan (https://www.deviantart.com/dan-duncan) , super dope artist on the TMNT comic, Ultimate Spiderman tv show, and now on Hulk: And the agents of SMASH has released a sketchbook on Lulu.com. Dan's the ulitimate dude, and has a super sharp mind for animation and drawing in general. He's also a very humble dude when it comes to his skills, and so I feel like I should tell everybody I know how dope he is! Go check out his sketchbook here: http://www.lulu.com/shop/dan-duncan/turning-the-tide/paperback/product-21000377.html It's $20!!!
Are you caught in 'The Technique Trap?'
Hello family! Chris Oatley wrote a very interesting post about what he's terming "The Technique Trap" over on his blog. He writes: "Unfortunately, technique is often the only thing young artists ever think about." I believe that this is true for two reasons: 1) I was caught up in this as a young artist trying to break into the comic book industry. Back in the day, I could only afford to attend the Chicago Comic Convention, and I would spend months working on my portfolio. I would finish it mere minutes before the con, and then walk in, past the 'original art' tables, and immediately cry at how horrible my portfolio is in comparison to the pro
